The LaSalle Parish School Board met in Regular Session on the above date with the following members present:

Mrs. Maple Book
Mrs. Virgie Wilson

Mr. Justin Reeves
Mr. Dolan Pendarvis
Mrs. Aimeri Paul
Mr. Melvin Worthington
Those members not in attendance was; Mrs. Dawn Stott and Mr. Buddy Bethard.
The meeting was called to order by the President, Virgie Wilson, Justin Reeves, Vice-President gave the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mallory Francis and Bailey Roszell, students at Good Pine Middle School.
On a motion by Mr. Fryar, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to receive a presentation from Sheriff Scott Franklin, regarding active shooter safety.
On a motion by Mr. Fryar, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board move item # 10 to item #4. On a motion by Mr. Pendarvis, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to adopt a Resolution making application to the State Bond Commission for approval of the issuance of not exceeding Three Million Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($3,250,000) of Sales Tax School Refunding Bonds of the Parish School Board of the Parish of LaSalle, State of Louisiana, and providing for other matters in connection therewith.
On a motion by Mr. Fryar, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board voted to receive the personnel report, as recommended by the Superintendent.

NEW EMPLOYEES
Employ Jennifer Hester, as Child Nutrition Technician (7 hour position) at Jena High School, effective February 7, 2018.
Employ Gina Hobbs, as Child Nutrition Technician (6 hour position) at Good Pine Middle School, effective February 7, 2018.
Employ Emmy Coldiron, as Accounting Technician, effective February 26, 2018. (Replacing Teresa Clarkson).
Employ Rachel Masters, as Child Nutrition Technician (7 hour position) at Jena Elementary School, effective February March 1, 2018.
Employ Ellen Eberwein, as Child Nutrition Technician (7 hour position) at Nebo Elementary School, effective March 1, 2018.
EMPLOYEE RETIREMENTS
Doris Barnhill, Teacher at Olla Elementary School submits her request for service retirement effective May 31, 2018.
Janet Knight, Cafeteria Manager at Fellowship Elementary School, submits her request for retirement effective July 27, 2018.

On a motion by Mrs. Book, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board voted to approve the proposed 2018-2019 school calendar as recommended by the Finance Committee. (See Attachment #6)
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mr. Pendarvis the Board voted to recognize Mr. Scott Windham for presentation of 2017-2018 PCAL Bus Driver of the Year Winner for LaSalle Parish, Shelia Randall.
On a motion by Mr. Fryar, seconded by Mr. Reeves the Board voted to declare Friday, March 16, 2018 as LaSalle Parish Special Olympics Track and Field Day.
On a motion by Mrs. McCartney, seconded by Mrs. Paul the Board voted to purchase a lawn mower for LaSalle Jr. High School from Rabalais Small Engines-Natchitoches, La in the amount of $8,162.00 with one-half (1/2) coming from the General Fund and the remaining being paid from LaSalle Jr. High School Funds, as recommended by the Finance Committee.
On a motion by Mrs. Paul, seconded by Mr. Pendarvis the Board voted to rescind the MOU between the LaSalle Parish School Board and Smiles on the Go executed in January 2018 due to the fact the company is no longer providing services in the State of Louisiana.
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to change the Regular Board Meeting from April 2, 2018 to April 9, 2018 due to the Easter Holiday.
Closing comments included appreciation to those in attendance, including Sammy Franklin, representing the news media and Walter Dorroh, Board Attorney, congratulations the PCAL Bus Driver of the Year, Shelia Randall. Thanks to Mallory Francis and Bailey Roszell for leading the Pledge.
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mrs. Paul the Board voted to adjourn.
The meeting was closed with prayer by Mr. Fryar.
