The LaSalle Parish School Board met in Special Session on the above date with the following members present:

 

 

Mrs. Dawn Stott

Mrs. Maple Book

Mr. Jonny Fryar

Virgie Wilson

Mrs. D’Juana McCartney

Mr. Buddy Bethard

Dr. Walter Creel

Mr. Dolan Pendarvis

Mr. Charlie Anderson

Mr. Melvin Worthington

 

            The meeting was called to order and led with prayer by Mr. Bethard. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Bethard.

 

            On a motion by Mrs. Stott, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to adopt the final budget revisions for 2013-2014 school year.

 

            On a motion by Mrs. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Worthington the Board voted to approve the Compliance Questionnaire for the 2013-2014 school year.

 

            Concerning other business, Mr. Pendarvis offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Fryar to suspend the rules and add an item to the agenda.  Mr. Dorroh, School Board Attorney, advised this would not be possible as this was a special meeting.

 

            During closing comments Mr. Ray Hodges, serving for the local chapter of LAE, submitted a list of requested items pertaining to having the Policy & Procedure Manual available on the School Board’s website, clarification of policy #GAMC, and the inclusion of Veterans Day as a holiday for the 2015-2016 calendar.  Mr. Hodges introduced Gretchen Lampe of the Louisiana Association of Educations who asked the Board to follow the Policy & Procedure Manual in the future.  Rick Villemarette recited a written letter to the Board which outlined support for former Jena High School Head Baseball coach, Mike Breaux.  Other comments included appreciation to those in attendance and for students, faculty, administration, and news media.

 

            On a motion by Mrs. Book, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board voted adjourn.

 

            The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Wilson.
