The LaSalle Parish School Board met in Regular Session on the above date with the following members present:

The meeting was called to order and led with prayer by Mr. Bethard. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Bethard.
On a motion by Mrs. Book, seconded by Mrs. Wilson the Board voted to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held March 10, 2014 as reproduced and distributed.
On a motion by Dr. Creel, seconded by Mr. Anderson the Board voted to receive the personnel report, as recommended by the Superintendent.
PERSONNEL REPORT FOR APRIL 2014
NEW EMPLOYEES:
Stephanie Clark, Principal of LaSalle Junior High School, with a two year contract effective June 6, 2014 through June 5, 2016.
Davin Sullivan, teacher at Nebo Elementary School, effective March 7, 2014 for the remainder of the 2013-2014 school year.
Daisy Romero, janitor at Jena High School - revise her effective date of employment from March 11, 2014 to March 17, 2014.
RETIREMENT:
Steve Long, Principal of LaSalle Junior High School, requests an effective retirement date of June 5, 2014.
Marsheela Walters, Personnel Director/Technology Coordinator, requesting retirement effective June 30, 2014.
CONTRACT RENEWAL:
Barbara Elmore - renew two year contract effective June 1, 2014 - May 31, 2016
Kathryn Tyler - renew two year contract effective June 1, 2014 - May 31, 2016
Tish Budemer - renew two year contract effective May 6, 2014 - May 7, 2016
Debbie Gauthier - renew two year contract effective June 1, 2014 - May 31, 2016
Brandy Brunson - renew two year contract effective May 6, 2014 - May 7, 2016
POSITIONS TO BE ADVERTISED:
Advertise for a Personnel Director/Technology Coordinator, Central Office.
On a motion by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board voted to grant out-of-state travel for Kelly Thompson to attend the Annual National School Nutrition Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, July 11 - 17, 2014 with all expenses to be paid by Child Nutrition funds and School Nutrition Association of Louisiana.
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mr. Anderson the Board voted to allow Debbie Finlay, Business Manager, to serve as the District Board member for the Louisiana Association of School Business Officials on the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials Board of Directors, with any travel associated with this appointment to be paid by the Louisiana Association of School Business Officials.
On a motion by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Pendarvis the Board voted to approve the contract with Mr. Ronny Steele for the maintenance of the Nebo Elementary School Waste Treatment Plant, for a period commencing on May 1, 2014, and ending on April 30, 2015. On a motion by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Pendarvis the Board voted to amend the motion to read as: approve the contract with Mr. Ronny Steele for the maintenance of the Nebo Elementary School and Fellowship Elementary School Waste Treatment Plants, for a period commencing on May 1, 2014, and ending on April 30, 2015.
On a motion by Mr. Pendarvis, seconded by Mrs. McCartney the Board voted to approve the Detel Wireless proposal to increase the monthly broadband internet service from 50MB to 100MB, as required for State Department of Education mandated on-line testing.
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mr. McCarty the Board voted approve the Proclamation by the LaSalle Parish School Board, Jena, Louisiana, proclaiming May 2014 as National Teacher Appreciation Month, May 5 - 9, 2014 as Teacher Appreciation Week, and Tuesday, May 6, 2014 as Teacher Appreciation Day.
On a motion by Mr. Worthington, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to recognize Kathryn Tyler for a presentation of the Delta Kappa Gamma Essay Contest winners as follows:
Grand Prize Brianna Corley, 8th grade - Lasalle Junior High School
1st place Cassidy Joiner, 8th grade - Jena Junior High School
1st place Braylon Bignar, 7th grade - Jena Junior High School
Closing comments included extending congratulations to the Delta Kappa Gamma Essay Contest winners, appreciation to those in attendance and best wishes for students and faculty during upcoming testing. Mr. Howard McCarty, gave the School Board official notice of his resignation as School Board Member for Ward II effective at the end of the month.
On a motion by Dr. Creel, seconded by Mrs. Book the Board voted to adjourn.
The meeting was closed with prayer by Mr. Worthington.
